Postdoctoral researcher in digital geospatial studies
The University of Turku is inviting applications for the post of postdoctoral researcher in digital geospatial studies. The post is placed at the Geography Section of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and it will be filled through a fixed-term employment for 34 months starting from 1.3.2018 until 31.12.2020.
The postdoctoral position is framed around the strategical research focus Digital Futures (DF) of the University of Turku. It builds on the synergetic multidisciplinary strengths on digitalization, futures studies, and regulatory studies on digitalization, geospatial digital research and research on digital data-driven medicine, health and wellbeing. The duties of the post-doc researcher include conducting scientific research at the Geography Section. The overall research theme is digital geospatial research, which builds from the opportunities of cross-disciplinary research between Geography and other disciplines, and which aims at developing novel geospatial/location-based solutions for digitalization challenges and opportunities put forward in the DF programme. The postdoctoral researcher is working in close cooperation with the Associate Professor in Digital Geospatial Research and the participants of the Digital Futures (DF) programme from different departments.
The Geography Section seeks for a postdoc researcher who is an active researcher, capable of working in multidisciplinary teams and with transdisciplinary challenges. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to lead and publish joint research papers in international journals, organize participatory events under the umbrella of the DF living labs and contribute actively to the DF programme. The outreach activities should advance the University’s policy programmes on entrepreneurship, social interaction, transnational education and dynamic innovation activities
